About Us

When two brothers founded Townsend Tree Service in 1945, they began with a car, a tool trailer, and a strong work ethic.

Six decades later, Townsend’s people continue their commitment to be the best in the industry. Their dedication, innovation, resourcefulness, and integrity have built The Townsend Corporation into a third-generation, privately-held company with annual revenue in excess of $140 million.

Headquartered near Indianapolis, in Parker City, Indiana, Townsend has grown five-fold since 1993. With a workforce in 20 states and abroad, it continues to safely deliver results and solutions that address the power industry’s most pressing issues.

Townsend provides a wide range of services, expertise, and innovative technology to its specialized core markets - vegetation management, power line clearance, herbicide package and application, electric utility line construction, storm-damage relief, and the manufacture, installation and maintenance of custom control panels, nationally and internationally.

In 2006, Townsend entered a new market - green energy. It became one of only a handful of U.S.-owned companies involved in the construction and management of electric collection systems for wind farms nationwide. To date, the company has been involved in the installation of over 1500MW of wind power.
